SLUGS AND SNAILS

"Slugs and snails and puppy dog's tails - that's what little boys are made of..."
- old nursery rhyme.

This page will contain details of the various slugs and snails that we have found. It was about time we built this page so here are some of our photos ,even though we have not yet got round to identifying them all.

SLUGS

For the time being we will number these. So this is slug 1, but we believe it to be a member of the limax sub species

Slug two was photographed in October 1998

Slug three was photographed in May 1999. We believe it to be an Arion Ater - The Common Black Slug. (Kerney, Cameron & Riley 1979)

Slug 4 was photographed in Aug 1998
Slug 5 was photographed in September 1999. Numbers three, four and five could well be of the same species
Slug 6

SNAILS
As yet, we have not identified our molluscs, so here , for the moment, is snail 1 but it might be a Cernuella virgata.(Kerney, Cameron & Riley 1979)

This is snail 2. We have got as far as finding this to be a member of the Helicidae family but are not sure if it is a Cernuella virgata or a Cepaea nemoralis
Snail 3 which could well be a variation of number 2

This is the fourth different one. We found this one in June 2004

So far we have yet to find any free-range puppydogs tails at Quoditch
